BAILEY — A local restaurant has been damaged in a fire police are describing as an arson case.

Tracy’s Café on Deans Street received major damage to its interior during a fire Friday night.

“It appears to be intentionally set,” said Police Chief Cathy Callahan.

Town Administrator Joel Killion said he looked over the damage Saturday morning and the building’s interior appears to be destroyed.

“Let’s come together and help her rebuild,” Killion wrote in a Facebook post.

Donna Bryant, the restaurant owner’s sister, set up an online crowdfunding page seeking donations to help rebuild the restaurant.

“It’s going take a lot of hard work, but we are willing to do whatever it takes,” Bryant wrote.

Donors raised a total of $5,570 as of noon Saturday.

Police ask anyone any with information about the fire to call 252-235-3561.
