ZEBULON — Zebulon-based foam manufacturer Nomaco is once again expanding the Gert Noel Innovation Center, adding 82,000 square feet of production, shipping and warehouse space. Work will begin this year and renovations are expected to be complete by the end of February 2023.
The innovation center is primarily focused on polypropylene-based products and the use of post-industrial and post-consumer recycled materials. This is the second polymer platform for Nomaco, which has traditionally worked with polyethylene.
"This expansion reflects our commitment to service our customers' growth, and to continue being the North America market leader in extruded polypropylene foam," said Christophe Theunissen, vice president of sales.
Herculean structural foam and Nomaflex, an expansion and contraction joint filler, are two of the main products produced in this facility.
"Nomaco has seen significant growth in recent years and had outgrown the building's capacity. We have simply run out of space," explained Dennis Perry, vice president of manufacturing. "The new construction will provide employment opportunities for an additional 12-15 production associates and will have an adequate amount of workspace for everyone, as well as room for us to grow again."
Established in 1979, Nomaco designs and extrudes custom-engineered foam products and components for a wide range of markets, including construction, home furnishings, packaging, fitness and recreation.
