NASHVILLE — Nash County Commissioner Gwen Wilkins has been appointed to serve on the Rural Action Caucus for the National Association of Counties.
Wilkins received the appointment during the NACo’s annual conference near Denver, Colorado, in July.
“You were chosen because my goal is to build a talented and committed leadership team for NACo,” said NACo President Denise Winfrey. “Our strength at NACo is in our members and their involvement. It is time to elevate the county role in areas of need, and we are ready to rise.”
Wilkins’ role on with the caucus will be working on resiliency efforts, promoting inclusion, establishing solvency through economic mobility opportunities and empowering county leaders and residents to rise by providing educational resources and tools for informed decision-making, Winfrey said.
The NACo’s legislative conference is set for February in Washington, D.C., and the NACo annual conference, is set for July in Travis County, Texas.
