AUGUSTA, Ga. – Senior Harrison Wierse posted a 10th-place finish to lead Barton College to a sixth-place showing out of 18 teams at Lander University’s Bearcat Fall Invitational on Tuesday at Forest Hills Golf Club.
Barton put up a three-round team score of 1-under-par 863 on the par-72, 7,073-yard layout, 21 strokes off the pace of No. 6 North Georgia, the team champion with a 22-under 842.
Wierse carded a 6-under 210 over three rounds, just three shots from the winning total of 207 by West Florida’s Nico Lang. Other Barton scores were Ryan Jahr (32nd, 217), Jake Conklin (tied for 33rd, 218), Kris Jackson (T57th, 222) and Daniel Adkins (T71st, 226).
Barton will play in the Ironwood Collegiate Classic, hosted by East Carolina University at Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Greenville on Oct. 2-3.

Weber earn CC POTW honor
Barton senior forward Luis Weber was saluted by Conference Carolinas as its Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the NCAA Division II league announced Tuesday.
The Stuttgart, Germany, resident scored a pair of goals in the second half Saturday, Sept. 9, as the Bulldogs knocked Converse 3-0 in the conference opener for both teams. The Valkyries are the defending Conference Carolinas regular-season and tournament championship.
Will Whitman of Belmont Abbey earned the league’s defensive player-of-the-week award.
